The Ozark County Extension Center is hosting the annual “Forage and Beef Conference” from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Saturday, March 9, at the Ozark County Livestock Auction Barn, located on Hwy. 160 about 3.5 miles west of Gainesville.
Cost for the program is $15 per person and includes a pork chop lunch. Pre-registration is needed and must be made by calling 417-679-3525 prior to March 5.
“Our speakers this year are outstanding,” said Stacy Hambelton, agriculture business specialist for MU Extension. “John Jennings from the University of Arkansas is an excellent speaker and in my opinion, one of the best forages specialists in the nation. Eldon Cole is an excellent speaker with over 40 years of experience with MU Extension and a great livestock specialist.”
Presentation topics at the conference are as follows: “The Basics of Using EPD’s When Selecting a Bull,” by Eldon Cole; “300 Day Grazing Season,” “Establishment of Warm Season Grasses,” and “Establishing Clover in Difficult Pastures,” by John Jennings; “Fire Ants in Ozark County” and “Estate Planning: What Do We Need to Know?: by Stacy Hambelton.
