Greene County Highmark 4-H Club Takes Educational Trip to Mizzou

By Bailey Richardson, Highmark 4-H member

SPRINGFIELD, Mo.-- The Greene County Highmark 4-H Club traveled to Columbia on Monday, July 22. Club members visited the University of Missouri campus. Along with a campus tour, they also visited the College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources and the College of Vetereinary Medicine.

“My favorite thing we did was see the blood donor dogs at Mizzou,” said Ashley, a 4-H member.
They also experienced eating lunch in the campus cafeteria and learned about plants as well as insects.

Along with the tour of campus, 4-H members stopped at the new home of the MU Extension 4-H Center for Youth Development where Ben Gallup, assistant director, showed them around.

On the way back home they detoured through Jefferson City to visit the capital building. “I did not know the State Capital was that big!” said Issac, a member of the Highmark 4-H Club.

This was a great opportunity for the 4-H members to see the organization they belong on a much larger scale and the chance to visit the University of Missouri Campus added to that experience.
