The University of Missouri Extension office in Wright County is sponsoring two private pesticide applicators training sessions for area landowners.

The first session available to area landowners will be held at 6 p.m., Tuesday March 14 at the MSU Fruit Station in Mountain Grove.

The second session available is at 1 p.m., March 28 at the Laclede Electric Cooperative meeting room in Hartville.

The Department of Agriculture requires that farmers have a pesticide applicators license to purchase and use ‘restricted use’ chemicals.

Due to changes in the state policy all farmers with renewals and first time applicants are required to attend a training session in order to be certified or re-certified. PPAT licenses are issued for a period of five years.

There is no fee for this license or class but a $15.00 manual is required. If your farm already has a manual you do not have to purchase another one but you must bring it to the meeting with you.

Pre-registration is required and can be done by calling the University of Missouri Extension in Hartville 417-741-6134.
