CARTHAGE, Mo. -- Over 50 southwest Missouri teenagers performed community service during their time at the Southwest Missouri’s 4-H Teen Camp held June 16-19.
For several years Southwest Missouri 4-H has held its camping program at Camp Smokey located at Roaring River State Park near Cassville, Mo. This year 4-H camp attendees cleaned and did some maintenance on the Dining and Recreation Hall at Camp Smokey. The teens performed over 150 hours of volunteer time to improve these buildings at Camp Smokey.
“The teens all said that it is important to give back to a place that has meant so much to southwest Missouri’s 4-H for so many years,” said Bob McNary, a 4-H youth development specialist with University of Missouri Extension from Jasper County.
