Barry and Newton County 4-H’ers Win Honors at Regional Event

NEOSHO, Mo. -- The 4-H regional public speaking contest at the 2013 Regional Achievement Day, held July 15 in Springfield, involved youth from seventeen counties. Over a 100 youth came together for a wide-variety of speaking contests.
Newton County 4-H was represented by 11 youth and Barry County was represented by four.
Contests either test members’ knowledge about project work (member judging), or are public-presentations, such as demonstrations or other public speaking area.
BARRY COUNTY
In Natural Sciences: Demonstration, Junior Division-Savanna Gunter received a gold certificate and gold ribbon for her demonstration, “Basics of Beekeeping.”
In Home Economics: Cake Decorating Demonstrations the Senior Division, Sierra Gunter received a gold certificate and gold ribbon; and in the Junior Division, Mandy Gunter received a silver certificate and gold ribbon.
In Member Judging: Cake Decorating Senior Division, Sierra Gunter received a gold ribbon. In the Junior Division, Mandy Gunter and Savanna Gunter both received a silver ribbon.
NEWTON COUNTY
Ethan Anderson, Round Prairie 4-H Club, Joplin, received third place Junior Woodworking Member Judging and was second place in Leisure Education Demonstration.
Micah Anderson, Round Prairie 4-H Club, Joplin, received silver recognition in Junior Woodworking Member Judging and placed second with his Mechanical Sciences Demonstration.
Madison Dillon, Downtowners 4-H Club, Racine, placed second in Arts & Crafts Junior Member Judging and first place in Horse Junior Member Judging.
Collin Farley, East Newton 4-H, Neosho, placed first with his Live Animal Video demonstration.
Charlie Heil, Diamond Renegades 4-H, Joplin, was a member of the first place team-Robotics demonstration.
Andrea Larson, East Newton 4-H Club, Stella, received silver recognition in Junior Beef Member Judging and Silver recognition in Junior Girls Personal Development.
Trey Larson, East Newton 4-H, Stella, placed first in Junior Woodworking Member Judging.
Andrew Littlefield, Diamond Renegades 4-H Club, Diamond, tied for second in Junior Poultry Judging and was a member of the first place team Robotics Demonstration.
Peter Littlefield, Diamond Renegades 4-H Club, Diamond, received Silver recognition in Gardening Member Judging. Peter also was a member of a team Robotics Demonstration that placed first.
Matthew Melton, Lucky Clover 4-H Club, Neosho, placed first in Junior Shooting Sports Member Judging and had the first place Leisure Education Demonstration.
Joshua Raben, Diamond Renegades 4-H Club, Diamond, tied for second in Junior Poultry Judging and had the first place Junior Animal Science Demonstration.
