Annual Greene County Soils and Crops Conference is March 18 in Springfield; Pre-Registration is Required

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- The 91st Annual Greene County Soils and Crops Conference and SWCD Annual Meeting will begin with a free dinner at 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 18. The event will be held in the 2nd floor banquet room at Springfield Livestock Marketing Center, 6821 West Independence (Exit 70 off of I-44), Springfield, Mo.

The Greene County Soil and Water Conservation District Election Polls also open at 5 p.m. for county residents only since this even includes the Annual Meeting of the SWCD.

“Overall, this conference is designed to provide research-based information and options to area agriculture producers that can help them make more informed and profitable decisions,” said Tim Schnakenberg, agronomy specialist with University of Missouri Extension.

Program topics and speakers include:  “Unmanned Aerial Systems for Agriculture (Drones),” by Dr. Bill Wiebold, MU Extension state soybean specialist; “Winter Livestock Water: Nothing is Maintenance-Free,” by Mark Green, Greene County NRCS and “Pasture Weed and Brush Control,” by Tim Schnakenberg, agronomy specialist with MU Extension

This conference also includes the SWCD Annual meeting and awards ceremony.

Program and cost-share updates will also be given by staff with the Greene County NRCS, FSA, and the Soil and Water Conservation District.

Pre-registration is needed by March 13 to aid in meal planning.

Registration can be done one of three ways. The preferred method is online registration which can be accessed at http://extension.missouri.edu/greene. However, individuals can also call the Greene County Extension office at 417-881-8909 or email greeneco@missouri.edu.  Both phone and email messages need to include your name, mailing address with city and zip, telephone number and number attending.
